Marketing Campaigns - Overview

What is a Salesforce Campaign?

A Salesforce campaign is a targeted and organized marketing effort designed to achieve specific business goals. It involves grouping contacts or leads based on common characteristics or criteria, such as demographics or behavior, and then executing coordinated marketing activities, to engage and influence those contacts.

It allows users as well to categorize and segment their audience into distinct groups, often based on shared attributes like location, industry, or product interest. Once a campaign is established, various marketing activities, such as email outreach, events, or webinars, can be associated with it. This enables businesses to track and analyze the success of their marketing efforts within the context of specific campaigns.

Hierarchy

A hierarchy within Salesforce campaigns is a way of organizing and grouping campaigns to make them easier to manage and analyze. You can create a parent campaign as a high-level grouping and, beneath that, child campaigns where you can track more-granular campaign efforts

This setup helps businesses manage complex marketing initiatives by grouping related campaigns together. It enables better analysis and reporting, as data can be aggregated at various levels within the hierarchy. For instance, metrics and results from child campaigns can roll up to their parent campaign, providing a comprehensive view of the overall performance.

Some of the benefits of using campaign hierarchies are:

  • You can view aggregate data, such as the total number of leads, contacts, opportunities, or revenue generated by all the child campaigns in a hierarchy.
  • You can use reports and dashboards to compare and analyze the effectiveness of different campaign types, pipeline sources, or strategies.
  • You can use a standardized naming convention to easily identify and find your campaigns.
  • You can use filters and assignment rules to automatically assign leads, contacts, or opportunities to the appropriate campaigns
